September 2009

Packing Week ran from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd September and was held at St. James’s Palace. 21,000 new garments were distributed to 60 British Charities.

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra visited on the Monday afternoon and expressed delight at the quality and quantity of garments donated.

Her Royal Highness enjoyed meeting everyone, including pupils from Downe House and Manor House Schools, who had come to help unpack all the items.

View Day, on Tuesday morning, was well attended by members of the Guild, their families, friends and some of the 60 Charities who had applied for a donation this year. Packing was completed during the afternoon and all the garments were collected by lunchtime on Wednesday 23rd September.

June 2009

Mrs Sarah Cotton succeeded Mrs Clare Kinnear as Secretary to the Guild.

May 2009

Our Executive Committee met and the following Charities were added to our list of grants for this coming September.
Spitalfields Crypt Trust proposed by Mrs Elizabeth Carver
The Early Births Fund proposed by Mrs Ann Williams
The Gatehouse proposed by Mrs Victoria Spendlove
St. Martin in the Fields proposed by Miss Jane Denny
Mama Africa Family’s Association proposed by Mrs Teresa Myers

 

April 2009

At our Annual General Meeting in London the Annual Report of the Guild was approved. For a copy of that report click HERE

Also at the meeting, Mrs Rachel Parry stood down as Chairman having completed her three year tenure. She has been succeeded by Mrs Teresa Myers with Mrs Victoria Spendlove as Vice Chairman.

Mrs Liza Jones retired after heading up the Royal Group for eleven years and has been succeeded by Mrs Daphne Clarke.

Mrs Pauline Stokes has taken over the running of our annual raffle from Mrs Daphne Clarke.
